Overview
Colonoscopy examines your entire colon (large bowel) and rectum. It’s essential for bowel cancer screening, investigating symptoms like changed bowel habits or bleeding, and removing polyps before they become problematic.
The procedure takes 20-30 minutes. You’ll have sedation for comfort. Dr Sivaji can remove polyps immediately if found.
What to Expect
01
Preparation
You’ll receive detailed instructions on bowel preparation (clear liquids and laxative). This ensures Dr Sivaji has a clear view. Nothing to eat for 6 hours before appointment.
02
The Procedure
You’ll be sedated for comfort. Dr Sivaji gently passes the colonoscope (thin flexible tube) through your bowel. If polyps are found, he removes them immediately using specialised tools. Most patients remember nothing due to sedation.
03
Recovery & Results
You’ll rest briefly while sedation wears off. Dr Sivaji discusses findings clearly—what was found, what it means, what happens next. Written report provided. Pathology results available 5-10 working days
